The Day AFTER Cinco de Mayo

I recently took seven of my Latinos to a Latino leadership conference for male students in Atlanta. They were required to "dress to impress." Many of these ties are borrowed from my dad, and some of the suits and jackets were donated by teachers. I was a little in awe of Juan, below. He was the only one of all the guys who knew how to correctly tie a tie.

One group shot before we left.
On the way there, Jose regaled us with tales of La LLorona and other legends from Guadalajara Jalisco.
Some of the guys had never set foot on a college campus. They were in awe of Georgia Tech. We had our conference overlooking the football stadium. I thought this was a great shot of them.

A Red Carpet Event

Don't these girls look glamorous? We recently had our eighth grade formal. The kids looked amazing and did a really good job behaving.
Four of my Posse. (Side note: Today at the Latino Leadership Conference for male middle school students, the guys were asked if they were in a club at school. Isaac, second from right, responded, "Yeah, Miss Pollitz's Hispanic Posse Club.")
Yes, the following pair came as a couple to the dance. They are not a couple in real life, but knew they would have a good time together.

Who could tell?
We had live (GREAT) music during the sit-down dinner from three of our students at our school. I especially loved Hunter's suit.
One of my girls I've been working hard with to prepare her for high school. She looked so elegant!
Eighth grade boys = so much fun.

Embarassment at the Stampede

The last night of the band trip we took the students to the Dixie Stampede. I had never been. You'll definitely be able to tell that in this video. You know when you hear yourself on video or voice mail and cannot STAND how you sound? Well, that's me this whole video. What a dork! (Of course, it doesn't help that I've displayed it on a public website. Oh well.) Anyway, as you'll see, my favorite parts were the miniature horse races (complete with "dummies" on their back flopping around wildly throughout the race) and the piglet race.
