'Dega Montage

Video Notes:

1st clip: Pan of the campsite. Notice the huge carnival red/white striped tent across the dirt road. I dubbed it the traveling "Club La Vela" tent. It was complete with disco balls, speakers, a turn table, and colored flashing lights. There were literally 100 people in there bumping and grinding after midnight. Forget getting any sleep!

2nd clip: Said party tent right before it became active. Who ARE these people? They must be roadies.

3rd clip: Adam's campfire. It was amazing! Too bad he wasn't in the clip. He and Yohe had gone off scouting some branches for my smores. After Adam's third attempt to grab the super-high branch and coming back down with only leaves, Yohe hoisted Adam onto his shoulders so Adam could get a better grip. It worked. In similar words of my brother-in-law: Man. Camp. Fire. Sticks. Good.

4th clip: Driving under the caution flag.

5th clip: Driving under the green flag. You can hear Adam yelling "That a baby!" at the beginning. He was pumped because the first car flying by was his pick.

Mullets, Tats and Wife Beaters, Oh My!

As promised, pics from my fabulous Talladega weekend. Wow. It was an experience all its own. I must say, if you've never been, it's worth it to go at least once. I might suggest NOT camping out though. Camping doesn't bother me. Lack of sleep because of wild party tents, trucks chock-full of people cruising the camp ground, and endless amounts of rebel yells are annoying. I DO recommend going to the speedway, however. I can't pretend I've ever been a NASCAR fan before, and I always thought it was stupid to watch. But now that I've been, people, it's just different. The incredible sound as they fly by at close to 200 mph is adrenaline rushing. I'm not converting to the NASCAR Nation by any means. It's just intriguing to me now. I'm just sayin'. On to the pics.

The gigantic multi-room tent. No showers. No restrooms other than port-a-potties. I think this classifies as roughing it. At least for this gal it does.

Adam is such a hard worker. He cooked most of our meals and built our fire. I love it!

Jason going in for the kill. Beth looks pumped.
Adam being silly before we went into the race.

Rockstar of the Weekend Award: Jason Yohe. I have to say, he looks more Mexican than Italian in this pic.

Pre-race excitement.

Looking to the right from our seats: We were in the grandstand section, eleven rows from the track. To the right, where the track curves back to the left, is the finish line and the location of the major crash at the last lap of the race. Yep: the one where Carl Edwards crawled from his burning vehicle and jogged to the finish line Ricky Bobby style. I AM NOT LYING.

This board updates every lap with the leading drivers. Before we left, Adam made me pick a driver to cheer for so I would get a little more involved. I chose Joey Logano, #20 for Home Depot, because he is 18 and just a baby! During the race, Adam, Roxeanne and I were in the first three seats of our row. Adam was pulling for #1 and Roxeanne was pulling for #88 (Dale JR: who was NOT pulling for him was the question.) Our three drivers held the top three positions for several laps. This is the pic of the board with our guys in the lead.

Beth's best "I'm-so-glad-I'm-at-Talladega" face.

My #2 guy, National Day of Prayer sponsored #78, Ragan Smith. He is the car on the left. He didn't place, but I liked him anyway.

My #1 guy, Home Depot orange car #20, 18-year-old Joey Logano.

We could also see the pit from where we were. We had great seats.
Video will follow soon. I know you can't wait.

Fun times. Or not.

You may recall that every birthday I record new things that I've have done that year. Sometimes I record new things that I knew I was going to do. Sometimes I record new things that I didn't plan to do.

This weekend I will be able to record something new that I planned to do.

I'm going to Talladega. Yes, I know. You can continue your insane laughter. Me + Talladega + camping in the parking lot + NASCAR = Certain hilarious moments.

Why, you may ask? Not because my boyfriend is a NASCAR fan. Not because I'm a closet Dale Jr. or Joey Logano or Kyle Busch or Ricky Bobby fan. (Are you impressed? Wait, Ricky Bobby is NOT a real driver??) No, my friends. It's all for the sake of the list.

Don't worry. I plan to capture the excitement (horror) on my camera. Rest assured, I will share. If you think about me this weekend, say a little prayer. For my safety. For my sanity.

Play Ball!

Anybody seen Shannon?

Nope, and you won't, either. It's baseball season.
